A pseudonymous leading cryptocurrency analyst, TradingShot, has given a now-or-never moment for XRP to reach the $8.5 price target. The Ripple’s native token plummeted to $2.40 during the weekend as the broader financial market crashed after US President Donald Trump announced 100% tariffs on all Chinese goods entering the US.

The cryptocurrency analyst explained that this could be a buying opportunity for traders as XRP could break out in price. The leading altcoin already surged 8% on Monday and is on the path to recovery. The bulls are aiming to reclaim the $3 mark as the token is attracting buying pressure. XRP’s daily trading volume crossed $10.2 billion threshold, indicating that an upward tick is on the cards.

The analyst wrote that XRP is mirroring its December 2017 chart patterns, where it eventually hit an ATH of $3.65 in 2018. The same bullish approach of 2017 is being replicated in the charts now in 2025, he wrote. If the pattern plays out again, the Ripple’s native token is set to break out in price, revealed the analyst.

“XRP/USD getting ready for its now-or-never moment to $8.500,” he wrote on TradingView. The 2017 chart shows the altcoin going from $0.50 to $3.65. He shared the 2025 chart showing it could go from $2.60 to $8.50 next.

“XRP has been trading sideways since July 14, 2025’s high, in a growth pattern that resembles 2017. As it approaches the 1W MA50 (blue trend-line), the market gets closer to its now-or-never moment as the 1W MA50 is expected to hold and provide a bullish boost similar to December 11, 2017, which made the price rally to its 1.5 Fibonacci extension. With even the 1W RSI sequences among the two fractals also looking identical, we can see XRP peaking around $8.500 (Fib 1.5 ext), if this model repetition is completed,” he summed it up.
