Ukraine is willing to join the 30-member NATO alliance to fight Russian aggression on its soil. Russia invaded its neighboring country, Ukraine, in 2022, and the war sees no end in sight. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has received millions of dollars from the US and the West to fight Russia. The country has also received arms and ammunition from the West to go on the offensive against its enemy.

Zelenskyy has repeatedly shown interest in joining NATO and making Ukraine the 31st military alliance member. If it is inducted into the bloc of nations, the country could be much more powerful. The President said in the latest press conference that joining NATO is a “central plan” for Ukraine to defeat Russia. The central plan has many aspects, including using financial and military methods to take on the Putin administration.

Ukraine’s ambitions to join NATO could face potential delays as Finland and Sweden were recently inducted into the bloc. However, the military bloc’s Secretary General Mark Rutte revealed that Ukraine could join NATO someday, but most likely not now. “At the moment it seems that it will be Ukraine as number 33 but maybe somebody else pops in front of him,” Rutte said.

Zelenskyy plans to fight Russia with the strength of NATO if the country is inducted into the bloc. However, several Western nations are already supporting and aiding Ukraine to step up its war against Russia. “Russia has to understand we will keep on doing that as long as they continue the war effort,” said Rutte.
