President Trump Reiterates Desire for Federal Reserve to Lower Interest Rates
The US economy has been stuck in a rather concerning state for much of March. With the US implementing aggressive economic policy, a budding trade war appears just on the horizon. Moreover, there are worries that a recession could be set to take place before 2025 comes to an end.
However, the ongoing fight against inflation has created some debate and conflict on Capitol Hill. Specifically, speaking at a vital cabinet meeting, US President Trump says he hopes Fed Chair Jerome Powell and the Central Bank will lower interest rates.

The sentiment echoes what the President said when the agency decided to halt cuts this month. Indeed, he took to his Truth Social platform and urged Powell to continue cutting rates. Specifically, he said the Federal Reserve would be “much better off” as tariffs “start to transition (ease!) their way into the economy.”
Trump’s advocating for interest rate cuts extends to January. However, Powell has not wavered from his “wait and see” approach. “Uncertainty around the changes and their effects on the economic outlook is high,” Powell said. “We are focused on parsing the signal from the noise.”
