Crypto prediction market platform Polymarket has announced it is launching a “free grocery store” in New York City. The supermarket will open in NYC on February 12, featuring stacked shelves of groceries provided by Food Bank for NYC.

“As a part of our mission of giving back to the city we call home, we’ve donated $1 million to @FoodBank4NYC to help fight food insecurity across all five boroughs,” Polymarket said in a statement. “The Polymarket is fully stocked—no purchase required. We’re open to all New Yorkers. A real, physical investment in our community.”

Polymarket says the project to build the grocery store broke ground near the end of 2025, and the lease has already been signed. Furthermore, the firm said that users are also able to donate directly to the Food Bank for NYC to contribute to the new supermarket.

Furthermore, Polymarket’s efforts to launch the free grocery store seemingly one-up’s Kalshi’s recent free grocery initiative. The latter prediction market’s offering arrived first, offering shoppers up to $50 worth of free groceries at Westside Market, a grocery store in Manhattan’s East Village on Tuesday.

Shoppers can visit the Polymarket free grocery store in NYC on 7 Madison Avenue starting next week. Earlier this month, the Crypto prediction market platform announced an exclusive partnership with Dow Jones and the Wall Street Journal. The deal will make Polymarket’s real-time prediction market data available across Dow Jones consumer platforms, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, MarketWatch, and Investor’s Business Daily.
