The social media personality Haliey Welch has officially been sued over her Hawk Tuah crypto project, according to a Newsweek report. Indeed, the ‘Hawk Tuah Girl’ is facing a lawsuit for the sale of her meme coin that had crashed 95% just hours after the project had launched.
After her meteoric rise to celebrity, Welch launched the project on Solana earlier this month. The self-titled cryptocurrency token is the source of a lawsuit filed on December 19th, as lawyers note the legal action “arises from the unlawful promotion and sale of the HAwk Tuah cryptocurrency meme coin, known as the ‘$HAWK token’.”

According to the lawsuit, “Defendants offered and sold” the Hawk Tuah meme coin “to the public without proper registration. Moreover, the Solana-based project plummeted in value by 95% in a single day. The project was part of an emerging brand strategy devised by Welch after her meteoric rise earlier this year.
Welch was interviewed by YouTube content creator Onomatopoeic, where she first made the ‘hawk tuah’ reference for which she would be known. Since that moment, she launched her own ‘Talk Tuah’ podcast and various merchandise offerings. Among her efforts to capitalize on her fame was the meme coin project, for which she will now be the subject of a legal fight.
