Solana (SOL) and TRON (TRX) are the seventh and eight largest cryptocurrency projects by market cap. Both projects have robust blockchains that have seen immense growth over the last few years. TRON especially has climbed the charts rather quickly. Let’s discuss if TRX can overtake SOL to become the 7th largest crypto by market cap.

Can TRON Overtake Solana For The 7th Spot?

Solana (SOL) currently has a market cap of about $42.33 billion. TRON (TRX), on the other hand, has a market cap of about $30.91 billion. TRX has quite some ground to cover if it has to overtake SOL. Moreover, if TRX’s price rallies, there is a high chance that SOL’s price will also pick up steam.
TRON’s blockchain is known for stablecoins, such as Tether (USDT). Solana (SOL), on the other hand, is more famous for memecoin projects. SOL’s Pump.Fun platform has launched several memecoins that have had significant success. Both blockchains have had substantial success, but SOL might just come out on top due to the sheer number of projects.
Solana (SOL) is also one of the most resilient cryptocurrencies in the market. The asset’s price has seen its fair share of crashes, but has always managed to recover. SOL’s price fell to below $10 after the collapse of FTX in 2022. However, the asset made a quick recovery, hitting multiple all-time highs along the way. TRON (TRX), meanwhile, has yet to prove its resilience.

The Solana blockchain has also become a go-to network for many developers. It is cheap, fast, and can handle a large number of transactions at a time. Solana (SOL) is quickly emerging as a worthy contender to Ethereum (ETH). The trajectory is expected to continue over the coming years. While TRON (TRX) is a renowned blockchain, it is unlikely to overtake Solana (SOL) just yet.
