Following the immense success of the firm’s US offering, BlackRock has officially launched a Spot Bitcoin ETF on Cboe Canada. Indeed, a recent press release announces that the asset manager iShares Bitcoin ETF will now trade in the North American country under the same IBIT symbol.

The $11 trillion asset manager’s Bitcoin investment vehicle has been called the “greatest ETF launch in history” after debuting in January of last year. Moreover, it led a surging inaugural class of investment offerings. Indeed, Bloomberg analyst James Seyffart recently noted that a year after launch, four Bitcoin ETFs are in the top 20 US ET launches of all time.

BlackRock Launching iShares Bitcoin ETF in Canada

The history books will remember 2024 as perhaps the greatest year in the history of cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin led a massive surge that culminated in a six-figure price in November of last year. Moreover, the asset class followed, with a host of tokens also reaching landmark price points.

That performance was driven, in large part, by the presence of spot Bitcoin ETFs. Approved in January, these investment vehicles expanded and had access to the leading crypto. Moreover, it may well be poised to do the same thing. With 2025 expecting big things from the industry, BlackRock is set to launch its Bitcoin ETF on Cboe Canada.

“The launch of the iShares Bitcoin ETF in Canada underscores BlackRock’s commitment to innovation and providing clients access to an expanding world of investments,” iShares Canada head Helen Hayes said. Moreover, the move will provide Canadian investors the ability to “gain exposure to Bitcoin” while removing the complexities of self-custody.

The development should contribute to what is already an impressive year expected for Bitcoin. Indeed, experts have projected the leading crypto could reach a price of $120,000 by the end of January.
